Privacy Policy

AI Sidekick is a Chrome extension that adds right-click AI actions (Explain, Rewrite, Summarize, Translate, and user-defined custom prompts) to any webpage. This policy describes exactly what data the extension handles.

What we collect

• Selected text. When you invoke an AI Sidekick action, the specific text you highlighted is sent to the AI provider you've chosen (Lovable AI Gateway, OpenAI, or Google Gemini) to generate a response. We do not read, store, or transmit any other page content.
• Nothing else. We do not collect names, email addresses, browsing history, cookies, page content you didn't select, or any personally identifiable information.

What stays on your device

• Your custom prompts (in chrome.storage.sync)
• Your preferred AI provider and target translation language
• Your OpenAI or Gemini API key, if you added one (stored locally, never sent to us)
• Your local daily usage counter for the free tier

Third parties

Depending on your provider selection, your selected text is transmitted to one of:

• Lovable AI Gateway (default free tier)
• OpenAI, if you supply your own OpenAI API key
• Google Gemini, if you supply your own Google API key

Each of those providers has its own data-handling policy. We do not share data with any other third parties, do not run advertising, and do not sell user data.

Data retention

We do not maintain a database of user requests. Selected text is passed through to the chosen AI provider and the response is returned directly. Providers may temporarily log requests per their own policies.

Children

AI Sidekick is not directed to children under 13.
